Spring is here and we are excited about spending more time outdoors in this great weather. If you are planning an outdoor party or simply spending evenings outside with family, we all know old man winter can reek havoc on our outdoor spaces where we like to entertain. So when getting your space ready, here are a few easy design tips to update your porch or patio in a snap!
1) Start by adding a brightly colored outdoor rug that also adds texture to your patio floor or deck. It is way easier and less expensive than staining, and a rug adds some comfort in as well. We love the rugs shown above from Annie Selke.
2) Then add some bold outdoor pillows to your old or overly simple patio furniture for a quick and easy update without spending a fortune on new furniture or tons of new sofa cushions. Here are a few from Willams Sonoma that help add some nice contrast and pattern.
3) Adding some beautiful greenery and flowers to these amazing Pottery Barn planters is an instant way to perk up your patio. Pro-Tip... nest planters in different sizes on one corner of your outdoor space for added height and overall interest. It kinda gives your eyes a focal point.
4) To finish up your patio update, you will need the most important element of nightly entertainment (besides the drinks;) is LIGHTING! Outdoor lighting can be a challenge because of the moisture and never having a safe GFCI outdoor rated plug exactly where you need it. And even then plugging in an outdoor lamp can be a dangerous tripping hazard or chewing hazard for your pets. Modern Lantern has come up with a great outdoor lighting solution... The Capri Outdoor Cordless Table Lamp. It is a weather resistant lamp that runs on a high powered rechargeable battery pack that you can now place anywhere to light up your patio for up to 20 hours on one charge.
Here are some great examples using our Capri Cordless Lamp by famous designer Lia Griffith.
Now the fun part, get out and enjoy your beautiful outdoor living space with family and friends in style!
